As of today, the hardcover and paperback versions of my poetry and lyric book, Perceptions of the Curious Mind, have been approved for global distribution. It will take 6-8 weeks for the books to be for sale in retail outlets. Also, the book will be available in other ebook forms soon.

I’m continuing to work on my memoir Secret Anguish and gradually making progress.

Organizing Writing in Outlook and Evernote

During the past week I have been organizing my writing projects in Microsoft Outlook using the tasks feature. I have learned how to make trees which breaks down my tasks by project. This has been very helpful so far.

I am also using Evernote to help me keep my research and project notes in order by project. I love tabs feature it has so I can easily see all of my projects all at once instead of having to open individual files in OpenOffice which would be a pain to switch between documents. Evernote also syns up with your online account so nothing is lost should your computer crash. So far way of organization is working. It will take me a while to complete this as I have many projects to organize and put into certain stages. But I just wanted to update all of my readers on what I am doing.

Gluten Free Directory – Book Release

I have a book out called The Gluten Free Directory for those people who have trouble tolerating food containing gluten. The book lists the companies who make gluten free foods and their contact information and what they offer. The list is not complete, but it is a good start. Elvis and Gladys – Part 1

The current book I”m reading on my Kindle is Elvis and Gladys. Yes, folks. I am a big Elvis Presley fan, give thanks to my mother for that. I have read a few Elvis books already, but this book, though I”m about halfway through it, has really opened my eyes into the background of Elvis and where his family came from. As you start the book, and read along, you can follow how his family stemming form the line of Mansells on his mother’s side, are part Scott-Irish and Cherokee. They worked on farms to earn a living and moved around quite a bit. Gladys Smith stood out from her siblings and was more of the free spirit always dancing and loving music. When her father died suddenly, she regressed into her listless and became withdrawn. His death hit her hard. Gladys dated several men but obviously they were never that serious or if they were, Gladys didn’t love the men the way they loved her. Not until she met Vernon Presley. She fell head overheals for this handsome young man who was then only 19 and she about four years older. Vernon was never a man to stick to one job but moved around alot doing odd jobs here and odd jobs there. Gladys had held down a job previous to having Elvis at the Tupelo Garment Factory where she made many friends.

On January 8, 1935, Gladys went into labor. Vernon, the doctor and several friends were around to witness the birth of Jesse Garon, the first of the twins, was delivered still born. The doctor did not think Gladys was going to have another baby, but Gladys told him she was having the same pains she did before. A lady beside Gladys put her hand on Gladys’ stomach and told the doctor there was another baby on the way. Elvis was born several minutes after Jesse. Elvis, throughout his life would always think of Jesse and wonder why he survived and Jesse died. Yet at the same time, he felt some kind of power from being the survivor.

Gladys bonded with her baby like mothers do to their children, but she bonded in such a way that it was detrimental. She was afraid to leave Elvis alone with anyone for fear of him being abused and she wouldn’t be there to stop it. She bonded so closely to Elvis that her relationship with Vernon suffered. Elvis was her life and anytime they were apart it devastated Gladys and she would become depressed.

And well….that is about where I left off. But so far the book is great and I really am understanding Elvis’s life and character better than before.

I’ll write more when I finish the book. I just had to write what was on my mind before I forgot it. Part 2 will come soon.

Creating New Magazine

I am working on creating my own magazine, but I am having difficulty coming up with a title for it. Any suggestions? The magazine will include reviews, an editorial section, photography, a literary section…I guess a little bit of everything. I am working on the first issue so content will probably be fine tuned as I go. If you any suggestions as far as content, or title, I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance.

New Decision

Well I have decided to self publish whatever writing I do. After hearing about Borders closing 100 stores nationwide doesn’t sound good for bookstores in general. And the commercial publishing market is even harder to get into now because people are even more afraid of taken risks. My hubby has decided to take care of the business/IT part of the job while I just focus on my writing. We’ll see what happens.

The first book I plan on promoting is a collection of poetry and lyrics called Perceptions of the Curious Mind. Right now it is only available in hardcover, but we are looking to make it available in paperback as well as ebook. I will keep everyone updated on where we are with this book and where you can purchase a copy if you are interested.

Recently I have been trying to find publsihers for my poetry. It’s a daunting task but pray it will yield some good results. Other than that I am I am focusing my work on fiction short stories and not working on articles so much. I’ve found articles left a void where creative writing allows me to fill that void by using my imagination in creating my own characters and storyline. I don’t know if any of you other writers feel the same way, but this is how I feel right now. I have also started working on writing fanfiction. I think it would be a good way to get me started into writing fiction again. It has been quite a long time since I have written fiction. Hopefully it won’t be too hard to get back into.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything new but things sure have been busy for me this year. Now that things have settled down I am trying to get back into updating my blogs as often as I can at least once a day. I have had two articles published recently.
